#23 - The end of the beginning

I have at last made the time to complete the exercises involved in the 23Things journey of discovery.
I mostly enjoyed and found most useful working with the photos and images - Flickr has been a most useful tool for sharing photos both at work (Chess photos) and with family and friends.

I am sure that I will take part in any other discovery type program that introduces and allows participation in exploring new technologies as they emerge.

#22 NetLibrary - social networking

Pity about not being able to access NetLibrary, but did as suggested and went to Myspace and Facebook for a look around - would like to see how libraries are using these social networking sites to reach out to users.

Inside a Dog is a site that allows sharing (including podcasts) of like minded people - no social networking though.

#21 - Podcasts, Smodcasts - Fobcast!!

Used Podcatalley.com -had trouble listening to some of the podcasts on this computer - don't know what I was doing wrong .
Enjoyed the Rugby Fobcast podcast - very funny and looks at rugby union from an alternative point of view - a bit like the Could Have Been Champions on the ABC. Here is a bit more information about it.

The Rugby Fobcast is a classic example of what happens when Pacific Islanders have control of there own Rugby Show. Sione Pepe hosts a Rugby show like no other, based in Sydney they cover all things rugby in Australian New Zealand South African of course the great region that is Polynesia. Talking about Super 14 2007 all the way through to what will be a bumper Rugby World Cup 2007 France, allow Sione Pepe to entertain you through what can only be described as the year Rugby ruled our lives!

Also went to Yahoo! Podcasts
FYI - Yahoo is closing down their podcasts site on 31st October 2007

#20 - You too can YouTube

As a result of a search of Mildura on Youtube I found this video of our Yr 12 students playing downball. - I wonder if Joelene knows she's a star on Youtube??!!

I'm not sure I can see any applications for use in our Library - but I'm sure someone else can think of one!!

#19 - Discovering Web 2.0 tools

After going to the Web 2.0 Awards site I went to Mashups and looked at Coverpop - Jim Bumgardner came up again and through searching his free software came up with this website that may be of use to this Library Free Chess Online - maybe we could add it to the whitelist!??

#18 Web-based applications - ZOHO

The thing I like about ZOHO web-based software and others is that they eliminate the need to worry about different software versions or file types as you email documents or move from PC to PC. Solves the problem that some of our students have sending and opening work at home using different versions of Microsoft Office

#17 Creating an entry to Sandbox wiki

I have created an entry on the Learning 2.0 SandBox wiki. and added my favorite fantasy authors on my favorites page

I have also added my blog to the Favorite Blogs page under the Australian list to say that I've made it there.
